executive Director

Hello, I am Tarusa Stewart a woman in long term recovery which means I have made better choices in my life by not using any mood or mind-altering substances for 16+ years. I began my journey in 2013 to support the recovery community in Middle Georgia as a Certified Recovery Coach and experienced trainer specializing in the Science of Addiction Recovery and Cultural Competency.

Today as the founder and executive director of iHOPE INC., I continue the recovery movement by answering the call and purpose I have in my life to do this work. In addition to my peer recovery supportive services, I work with allies and other local community collaboratives to form a participatory process that validates self-directed pathways to recovery, health and wellness.

Hello, my name is Jennifer Castro and I am a woman in long term recovery (14 years), also I am a person who lives with mental health challenges.  I am passionate about my recovery and have thrived throughout my journey. I graduated from college with a degree in Criminal Justice, currently pursuing my degree in Psychology, and became a Certified Peer Specialist. I have worked as a Victim Advocate, served on the prison ministry team and, served as a Certified Peer Specialist on a Community Support Team. I enjoy art/being creative and use this holistic approach in my personal recovery. Currently, I am the Program Manager here at iHOPE INC, and feel so blessed to say my passion has become my career.

Through sharing my recovery story with others, I have found my struggle and pain can serve as a catalyst to connection to those who may feel alone in their darkest place by letting them know they are not alone, and that recovery is possible!
